2008-08-01 Doing nothing is more rewarding than reading The Double Eagle
I was stuck inside the house in Scotland by the interminable rain, so I picked up this book. I got to page 73 and gave up, only the second book in my life I haven't finished due to life being too short to waste it on such nonsense. It's written like a cheap film script with successive simple pieces of action, many of which seem to have been borrowed from elsewhere (I also thought of the Clarice Starling meets Dr Chilton scene), and the writing is so clunky it could barely bring myself to turn the pages. The characters are one dimensional, the only emotion is anger.
A very weak effort. Not recommended.
