Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

Thoroughly bored with the proper ladies of the ton, Alistair, Viscount Moncreiffe, yearns to find an adventurous young lady to make his life interesting, a wish that is granted when he encounters the fiery Charlotte Parnell, a secret spy for the Crown, to whom he proposes marriage at their first scandalous meeting. Original.
2007-03-16 I must confess I found it disappointing!
I was very excited at finally getting my hands on this much anticipated novel. I have read her last two novels and absolutely loved 'What an Earl wants', it had humour, passion, your adrenaline racing-a superb story and lovable characters I very much reccomend not to miss it's one of my fav books based on 19th century romance. The follow up 'Kiss from a Roge', I found bland but ok even though it didn't have the delightful whit and zest of passion the other captured remarkably.
'Confessions of a Viscount'compared I'm afraid just left a sour taste in my mouth it didn't add up. The storyline was rather flat and very predictable and the characters lacked personality and passion I just couldn't connect with them. It is still a likable book to read but I was expecting a frilling whitty comeback to applaud.
Sorry Shirley but where has the enchanting whit gone?
