A history lesson, everyone should know, as knowing history helps to show how to stop it repeating, unfortunately it does. Repeat; to a greater or lesser extent as various genocides since WW2 show, with intercedence only happening if control over valuable assets like oil is involved; whilst people and their lives, they can be ignored by bureaucratic rituals.
This book proves that courage can prevail, and this mans life is a beacon to us to `see' the human condition of apathy and bureaucracy, and acceptance of latent pessimism in many of us.
Here is a man who knows that the fight is about confronting the human mentality of apathy, the easy way, acquiescence, not just in war but as Michel has shown its right there in our academic institutions; the fear of change, turning a blind eye to things of good and things of value, in exchange for a simple undisturbed life. (This relates to his language teaching when he attempted to get it onto the educational curriculum.)
