This book had the Hart's characteristic choppy style of writing, with deep and emotive arrative, however I felt that 75% of the story was waffle. The ending of this novel is very poignant, but the majority of the story focuses on the narrative of a stage play (a lot of which has very little relevance to the story itself) and I found myself skimming over the pages until this part had finished (which was a great proportion of the book!). I still like Josephine Hart's style of writing and the subjects she chooses to write about, but I hope that the next book of hers that I read, stays within the boundaries of the main story and holds me in its grip, as did "Damage".similar books
