Paul Logan is the son of a plantation owner and a slave. He is bound to make his own future and own his own land, no matter the price he'll have to pay. He is stuck between a white world and a black world, not really fitting into either one. This is a great story about the strength and love of a family, friends, and having faith in yourself.
This is a prequel to all of Taylor's other great books, including Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. This book tells of the hardships Grandpa Logan had to endure to get the land that his family cherishes. This is a great book! If you haven't read any of Mildred D. Taylor's books yet, read this one now!
