2008-05-02 Not too good.
I have to say that I was quite dissappointed with this book. While the synopsis provided made me think 'Oh good this contains all of the kinds of stories that I want.' The reality is quite different however. You only get about a dozen very very short stories. Because each story is only a couple of pages long, the authors cram write, making the overall story overcomplicated and hard to follow. And the stories themselves are not as exciting as I expected them to be. Most of the early stories are about men and women who go into numerous battles, lose and then commit suicide. Not something that you really want young children to read. Also the numerous mystical creatures I was waiting for to appear in the stories are not that exciting. The closest we get to a magical creature would probably be a boy made from a peach. If you are expecting stories with some true meaning, then you wont get many in this book. Or the messages that some of the stories seem to give are a little strange perhaps such as 'dont sprinkle invisble ashes over yourself and then jump into a river.'Overall dont bother with this book - there have got to be better ones out there.
