One outstanding book of political theorists !!!! One helluva look into key positions and insights on Italian forms of Fascism, minus any racism (at least two of these writers were Jewish that I know of for sure). We can now see the reason for the Fascist Wildfire that put up a pretty good fight in Europe; this is so nouveau and radical in concept (even by today's standards) that one can see how it was easily transferred internationally. High Octane driven mental comprehensions of a truly intriguing form of politics. There is no jargon or glossing over of the issues and statements here. Solutions to human and social problems are catapulted to a new level of interpretation and analysis. In straightforward language, and from the SOURCES, you are painted the solution of humankind's problems in a common sense proactive logic. Forget the rhetoric and lies other political scientists and philosophical thinkers incorporate into their own misguided interpretations of intellectual writings, like with the communists and democratic writers. Here you have an agenda of action not words. Truly integral and organic in nature, based on historical social principals of human understanding, this is indeed a true program and course of action to resurrect the human potential of any given nation and society. And incredibly, you have Leftist to Rightist views, but only within the confines of the Fascist ideal that was superbly synthesized by the "hub" of the movement - the integrator, Benito Mussolini. You find here the writings of Mussolini, Pareto, Papini, Prezzolini, Corradini, Soffici, D'Annunzio, Lanzillo, Marinetti, Malaparte, Rocco, and Gentile. Never heard of these people (except for maybe Mussolini)? It is no wonder, this material is downright profound !!!! To say the least ! This is an ideology of the "third way" solution to the world's problems. That is why the fascist philosophy is played down and censored in the Western world (USA and Europe). Here you are reinterpreting the world "OUTSIDE the BOX" that the Marxists (and other communistic groups) and the Democratic-Republicanists have locked us in. It is a brave new world outlook to which the Marxists and Democratic-Republicanists have not a clue. The former fell to their knees in disgrace and the latter are hanging on to all they got - through their lies and intimidation (and with the help of television) to further distort the issues and situations of concern. This book will have you jumping off the gerbil run-around-wheel that we are so use to in our own worldview of thought.

There are so many highlights in this book that I could not be brief on any one fascist writer. They all are just plain incredible. Pareto's theory of the True political ruling class struggle for power (circulation of elites) far exceeds any other thought on political struggle for power. Marx's class struggle theory is just so "blown out of the water" with Pareto's own theory and this theory can easily be associated with the democratic and republican struggle for power in the US today (ever wonder why it seems like the democrats and republicans basically appear to be in the same "camp"? and why a lot of people believe that we have NO real choice come election time? This circulation of elite theory Answers this suspicion fully!). Corradini's points on positive and practical needs for renewal and regeneration of human potential within a nation are outstanding. In addition, I could not be more shocked than by reading Corrandini's predictions of communist and democratic downfalls and Why they are destine to ruin. His writings in the early 1900's (!!!) are dead accurate on what is happening in the democracies today. In Nostradamus-like fashion, (although Nostradamus was truly over rated) this writer foresaw the political and social decadence and end result of our existing socialist and democratic societies. Then he projects why and how fascist political and social agenda ranks supreme in essence. In brilliant interpretation and in non-intellectual statements he projects a painting of superb understanding of the world.

Another strong point in the book is the introduction of corporatism and syndicalism, which urged social solidarity between the upper and lower classes and called for a strong government to undertake a mission to protect their people from exploitation, while continuing to uphold private property and reject socialism. Within the management of government (fascists appear to be more of an "agent of the State" than a government per se - in the Nationalist mode), this idea that a corporative organization would develop a new relationship between labor and capital would eliminate "the clash of economic interests" and thereby neutralize "the germ of class warfare". All these writers incorporate solutions to humankind that cover the mind body and soul of their nation, truly intriguing.

With this book, you MUST get Fascism (Oxford Readers) (Paperback)by Roger Griffin (Editor), also available on Amazon. Also, pick up, Mussolini: A New Life by Nicholas Farrell.

The only problem I had was the injection in the title "roots of the right" ; this is totally misleading. And the unbelievably horrible preface of an introduction to the book, written by George Striner, that shows the lacking in knowledge of the general editor ( George Striner); here he shows his marxist leanings. However, I believe A. Lyttelton had to incorporate these pitfalls to get his book published. A. Lyttelton's own introduction sets the course correctly to understand the complex understanding of his work.
