2006-12-04 Stories that can either motivate or scare wannabe comics.

As a guy considering starting doing comedy, I swallowed this book instantly. It is a selection of stories from a wide range of comics, including some of my absolute favourite ones such as Larry David, Jonathan Winters and Mike Myers.

It must have been fun for the authors, who also happens to be comedians, to write this book since I doubt that there is another set of people as eager to tell their stories as comedians. Just imagine writing (or reading for that matter) a book on undertakers.

Comics' ambiguous feelings, both pleasure and pain, to their trade really comes through in this book. About half of the many stories in the book makes you ask yourself why would anybody chose this profession while the other half answers that question.

With many stories in the book some are bound to be better than others and that is certainly true with this book. All in all, though, a great read. A book that both scares and motivates a guy like me.
