With David Thewlis's voice, as utilised to great effect in Naked, firmly in mind, the reading spins along much like the dialogue from that very film. There is a constant & consistently wry self-commentary & flourishes of acerbic insight into the banal thought processes of most human animals. Misanthropy real or accidental, reminiscent of Naked, also sounds true & well tuned to the ear when David Thewlis/Johnnies voice is turning over like a V12 engine, waiting to run over any hapless halfwit intent on wasting his valuable time. Easy & fluid to read, with a keen descent into what may be called a style of madness or artistic license, this is perhaps the most entertaining kick in the ear since engaging the late E. M. Ciorans pithy philosophy of the melancholic. If you think like Thewlis then read the man. Hes a right fruitcake. Marvelous.similar books
