2008-07-30 Disappointing
Sorry but I thought this book was rubbish, a real let down and the weakest of the series so far (half way through Revelation now after starting it yesterday). The pace felt forced, the action uninvolving and the characterisations where weak. The hunting down of Alema Ra something that I had been enjoying in previous books just disolved into some naff "sith" power game that really felt weak (and badly telegraphed)... Luke and the Jedi's actions whilst making sense was explained in a way that made it look more like a hissy fit by Luke than what it should / could have been. Oh and yeah Jacen is a bad guy, like we hadn't already figured that out... How about less of laying that on with a spade and try and make him a character we can still care about and maybe even sympathise with even if we hate him?
In someways I would almost advise people to skip this book, but unfortunatly to much that is important to the series happens. So instead my advice is just hold your breath and plough through it as quickly as you can... Revelation will soon make you forget how aweful this novel is.
