2007-09-14 Remarkable insight
Not the first of Jung's works that I encountered, but the one that made me love his stuff; the work that actually reached inside me and changed my relationship to the world. If I took nothing else from it, I would hope I will never forget the line "...the predominant characteristic of the individual case is irregularity." That's the heart and soul of all Jung's teachings, in my opinion.
His ideas of how western culture has written human beings out of existence as mere marginal phenomonon, and the crucial and potentially crippling mistake this represents, is a timely warning that goes to heart of rational thought.
This is a remarkable work; it should be required reading in every western citizen.
