2000-09-02 text excellent. unfortunately references are not complete

The schism between different approaches to Psychiatry (biological vs. Psychotherapeutic) is firmly resolved by the new brief therapies which quite properly see themselves as making a contribution to the totality of knowledge (as other approaches should see themselves.) ITP places itself firmly in the Medical model of Psychiatric illness, has subjected itself to scientific outcome studies and has established its validity. This Second edition is beautifully written, lucid, compassionate, comprehensive and free from jargon. My only criticism is that the reference section does not cover all the references in the text.
