'It kept me listening through moments of spine-tingling tension.'
'Harlan Coben writes puzzle books. I like puzzles and I like being fooled. Coben does that extremely well, probably better than anyone else around at the moment. Just One Look.. is a puzzle book par excellence. I loved it.' (Mark Timlin THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY )

'Coben's power lies not only in narrative and pithy dialogue... his characters are properly fleshed out and credible, making for an emotional, as well as scary, rollercoaster of a read.' (THE DAILY MAIL )

'In the hands of Harlan Coben, you are kept guessing - and intrigued - until the last line. Just when you think you understand everything, Coben introduces a surprising twist. His previous books have been massive bestsellers, and if you read this one you will understand why.' (Matthew Lewin THE GUARDIAN )

'Coben has a highly readable style [and] the crucial skill of being able to evoke evil.' (THE DAILY TELEGRAPH )

'Coben's best' (THE GOOD BOOK GUIDE )

'Coben is one of the genre's big hitters and on this showing it's easy to see why.' (LONDON METRO )

"A spell-binding storyteller." (IRELAND ON SUNDAY )

'A gritty, fast paced page turner with convincing characters and a twist to die for'
"A spell-binding storyteller."
A convicted hitman suddenly confesses to a twenty-year-old murder - the slaying of a District Attorney's sister. Why he chose this moment to reveal his secret, he refuses to reveal... A businessman tries to go on the run from his family home when a old photograph turns up in a new roll of film. A photograph of him as a young man. But on leaving his house, he is immediately snatched by a vicious, trained killer and bundled into the back of a waiting car. These things are linked, but by what, or whom, no one knows. Only that the past is coming back to haunt the present and people are getting hurt...
Harlan Coben was the first ever author to win all three major crime awards in the US, and has established a best-selling series of crime novels starring his powerful creation, Myron Bolitar. He currently lives in New Jersey with his wife and four children.

2008-07-31 Entertaining

Just One Look is the third Harlan Coben novel I've read (Tell No One and The Final Detail being the other two).

Although I don't rate this book as highly as the other two Coben novels I'd read prior, it was still an enjoyable read and kept me guessing. Twists and turns and keeping the reading guessing is what this kind of fiction is all about.

One thing I'll say for Harlan Coben: He has that knack of keeping the reader wanting to turn those pages. I've had a few sleepless nights readings his books so far. And I'll bet there will be more sleepless nights to come.
