2007-12-14 A great read
My six year old son loved this book. AMS writes in a lovely traditional way for children, he doesn't patronise, use slang or try to be 'with it'. This book is a good old fashioned read, it's great to read out loud as the sentences are beautifully formed. AMS also uses some quite challenging words and expressions (challenging for young children that is) but that's really nice too, as it leads on to other discussions. The book has a limited number of illustrations and is of a decent length - it has helped my son to use his imagination more and rely on picture cues less.similar books
