Modern rugby requires you to have speed strength agility endurance and power in order to excel. Few sports demand such diverse physical attributes and no book so comprehensively addresses how to develop them specifically for the sportuntil now!
2005-08-03 Very helpful
It does what it says on the tin - it is an all-encompassing guide to training for rugby. The drills provided are geared towards players who want to take their training seriously - and when put to use are very effective. The book provides information on what to do in the off-season and pre-season, and gives a range of fitness and strength tests for coaches. It also gives a variety of fitness programs and how to tailor one to oneself. I could go on and on about the features of the book - from mental preparation, to when to have an ice-bath and the perfect warm-up.
The book's key attraction is the obvious love of the sport by the writers. The book is not simply a fitness book - every drill and every paragraph of advice written is specifically geared towards improving your rugby. This is essential reading for any player or coach who wants to improve performance.
