2001-04-04 A totally absorbing read
A warm hearted, captivating story of life in liverpool during the blitz. You feel as though you are actually involved in the story, as the characters are so warm and friendly. Eileen Gilmoss is a marvellous character, chubby full of fun, but also very caring and generous to all her frinds especially Mary who finds herself in quite a pickle,it's to Eileen she turns to for help and advice. Then we meet Eileens mum who cares for Eileens children whilst she works to help the war effort, and to supplement her income as husband Bill is away fighting for his country. This book is well worth reading . Ihave read all Joan Jonkers books and Icannot fault any of them . Ican buy them with confidence and know I'm not going to be disappointed with them.similar books
