2007-08-30 A good light-hearted, messy & funny story!
I haven't come across anything by Alexander McCall-Smith that I haven't liked yet. This is funny & would be a good entertaining story to read at bedtime. No boring bits! It's the story of Nicky & John, who are living with their Aunt Rebecca, whilst their geologist parents are away studying volcanoes. Aunt Rebecca is okay, if a little strict, but she has some funny ways about her, and most peculiar of all is her inability to eat anything other than raw foods, like carrots, turnips and especially... onions. Nicky & John would just love to have something a bit more exciting every now and then, and dream of chips & choccy cake. And then of course, quite by accident, they discover spaghetti... and their fortunes take a turn for the better...
Good fun & well-written!
