Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

2008-02-06 Essential reading for women of all ages
Why wasn't this book published years ago?? That was the question I was left with after reading Kate's latest book. For me opening the Contents page was a joy in itself. No having to search for what I wanted to find, the easy layout meant I could dip in and out to relevant sections as and when I wanted to.The book gives a brilliant overview of everything to do with female fertility, beginning with the basics which as well as explaining terms I thought I was incredibly familiar with, also gave added depth. The book moves on to trying to conceive, improving your chances and seeking further help.
With sections of the book titled `Finding the Right Time' and `How Late can I Leave it?' I feel this book is applicable to all females regardless of age and current relationship situation.
The book goes succinctly in to everything you could want to know about fertility, but not just the physical side. The emotional aspects of infertility don't just have their own section; there is a recognition throughout the book of the emotional difficulties experienced when trying to conceive.
This book gives a comprehensive overview and a thorough explanation of the techniques and drugs used in fertility treatment, it also continues beyond treatment, looking at other ways of creating a family and the option of living involuntarily childless.
Had I seen this book on a shelf at a book shop I may have been put off by the lack of glossy pages full of pictures - but that would have been to miss out on a brilliantly written, easy to use source of reference that is written with warmth and compassion for fellow females.
This book is presumably written for women who are thinking about their fertility - yet I am left feeling I should have read this in my late teens or early twenties. I feel I would have known me better. What I plan to do is give this book to my goddaughters as part of their 21st birthday presents. Sure to raise a few eye brows, but I feel sure one day they'll thank me.
