Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

2007-06-05 A mediochre tale that lacked originality and style
This story follows a journalist and her coverage/investigation of a murder that appears to involve her lover.Mixed up with some Latino-Los Angeles gang banger culture, this story drifts about with very little pace.
The characters are a little shallow and there was nothing within the story that gripped me.
I persevered to the end only to find an ending that wasn't very well put together - a bit of a last minute thought by the author perhaps?
The lead character Eve Diamond is put in charge of a Rookie Black journalist, who seems hell bent on stealing her stories and her thunder. Whilst she is nurse maiding this girl, she is trying to investigate the death of an up and coming latino actress who is also the muse and part time lover of the playwright who is suspected of being involved in her murder.
Eve's predicament is that her lover Silvio, is the best friend of the playwright and also the dead actress' ex lover...
She is partly jealous and partly worried for her lover and is desperate to find out what is going on. The Rookie journo is like a millstone around her neck, getting in her way at all the time, poking her nose in where it isn't wanted.
The story seemed to be a little lost in places, too caught up in detail that wasn't relevant and yet not enough detail to create a meaty book you could get your teeth into.
Light reading for holidays on the beach.
