When twenty-year-old Katherine Jenkins was performing in a Christmas concert with her college choir at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, there was an enormous bang as she hit the high note in 'O Holy Night'. Worried they were being shot at and fearing for their lives, the audience immediately ducked for cover. But they had nothing to fear. It was merely Katherine's powerful voice that had shattered one of the chandeliers above the stage. Katherine Jenkins' story began, quite unusually for a classical singer, when she was offered a recording contract immediately after leaving college - a six-album deal with Universal Classics. Her debut album Premiere went straight to number one in the classical charts in April 2004 and stayed there for eight weeks, outselling operatic greats like Kiri te Kanawa, Lesley Garrett and Angela Gheorghiu. For Jenkins it was a dream come true. Now, in her candid autobiography, she reveals how her passion to make this dream reality transformed her from a trainee teacher to one of the most famous classical singers in the world. This is the story behind that beautiful and angelic voice.

Katherine Jenkins is the biggest classical crossover star in the UK today, having already sold almost two million copies of her four albums by the age of twenty-seven. Her record Living A Dream was named the Album of the Year at the 2006 Classical Brit Awards, and her work entertaining the troops has earned her the accolade of the new 'forces sweetheart'.
2008-01-30 "To be continued....."
This morning I received the book and finished reading 20 minutes ago.The book ends in Katherine's own words:I can only say, in those time-honoured words: "To be continued...", so we can expect a follow-up. This hard-working lady has written her biography in an entertaining and professional way, which was to be expected from this determined mezzo soprano. Very informative, sad in places, jubilant in others, adventures, affection for friends and family with extremely close family ties, private in a way, not afraid in doing something different, a good sense of humor, very down to earth and full with positive thoughts of a very compassionate lady, hence the reason of being the "Forces Sweetheart". This book is written in Katherine's own uplifting non-selfish style and despite this "Crossover Syndrome", which to me is an expression for an allround singer, able to sing classical and popular, still determined to reach her goal of being an opera singer as was intented from the outset. In my estimation she will be a "Diva", and no doubt will sing the most beautiful arias as a mezzo soprano in an opera and a force to be reckoned with. The talent is there, as one can read in the book, most of the groundwork and world-wide popularity is done, got her own show (Kathfest), so probably the continuation of her autobiography will be: "Time to say Goodbye" or "Katherine Jenkins - Memoirs".
An objective and honest book written from the heart and well worth purchasing if it was only for the cheer determination walking the path in reaching one's goal !!
