2006-08-21 Yo-ho, yo-ho a Pirates book for you ...
As a fan of both Theme Parks & Blockbuster movies this comprehensive volume massively appealed to me. The author's follow-up to his previous book which focused on Disney's Haunted Mansion had me licking my lips in anticipation and it didn't fail to deliver.Following on in the same format as the Haunted Mansion book, this edition traces the complete story of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" from Walt Disney's original concept of the attraction being a walk-through wax museum through to it's eventual apperance as an iconic boat ride and most recently the smash-hit movies. It's a highly detailed account of a hugely successful "franchise" and contains brilliant photographs & artwork to complement the superbly researched text. Each page contains a number of treats for the reader, be it a rare sketch or interesting tale and after reading this you'd be hard-pushed to un-earth any further information about the ride in particular.
The book was published prior to the release of the 2nd installment of the popular movie series so there's only a relatively small section covering "Dead Man's Chest". There's a decent size chapter focusing on the original movie but fans of only the films could be a little dissapointed to find the majority of the book covers the ride.
In summary this book is quite simply as-good-as-it-gets in terms of behind-the-scenes material so if you're a fan of Captain Jack & friends or even more-so, a fan of the Disney Theme Parks then this is a brilliant buy
