Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

2002-02-13 Table this, table that; where will it all end?
Personally I'm not a great fan of the Oprah Winfrey feel good vehicle, this fact alone detracts from my immediate enjoyment of the book by a factor of about fifty-percent. Ok, I know that food isn't just food and I miss the culture of the table which today's busy lifestyle makes so difficult to enjoy, but having a trendy TV cook pontificating about the soul affirming benefits of communal dining gets me reaching for the anti-emetics. When the urge to purge has passed I find I want nothing more than to go out and pick up a quick burger from the nearest fast food outlet.A philosophy of food should be as appealing as the fare it espouses. Unfortunately in the case of this book the pictures give you an appetite then the text takes it away.
In it's favour the photography is fantastic and is what drew me to the book in the fist place. The recipes are good, American food with a distinctly southern influence. The classification is confusing and it makes it quite difficult to find what you're looking for which kind of leads me to suspect that the food wasn't really of paramount importance in the planning of this book. Definitely one for the fans.
