2003-01-18 Intresting and clearly written- not the best on the subject
This is a well written, quite short introduction on global gender issues. Unfortunatly, as any writing writtien on such a dynamic subject, it has dated since its publication in 1993.Basic arguments are outlined but the lack of depth means that some of the valid views the book points out seem far more blunt and reverse-sexist (that is dismissive of men) than the real thought out theories of feminists themselves. For example a casual reader could be forgiven for thinking that the authors are saying all men cause war and all women are victims- such generalizations are prevalent in this book that at times feels too brusque.
Essentially a good beginers guide but there are much better and more recent books and resources out there.
