2003-09-09 Concise, straightforward with a touch of the personal
This book is a very good review of the current scientific literature concerning mothers-to-be over 35. Although written, by academics, it is by no means a hard technical slog, quite the reverse. I found the inclusion of short case histories brought a personal touch which made the experiences described in the book much more real. It touches on all aspects of impending motherhood, the psychological as well as the physical. Some books I have read on this subject have been too close to a feminist manifesto or filled with horror stories. The writing here is very positive and contains much reassurance and welcome advice for those of us embarking on motherhood later in life.
