2002-02-13 Highly detailed and full of vital information

Without doubt, this is a very good book. It is highly detailed in terms of the technical and scientific information required for managing a modern greenhouse. No stone is left unturned as there are chapters on marketing and business management as well as the standards on pest control, fertiliser, greenhouse design, light and temperature, post harvest conditioning and alternative cropping systems such as rockwool etc. The chapter on fertiliser has to be one of the most comprehensive I have seen in a book like this. This book is very much aimed at the commercial grower rather than the avid gardener, but regardless, there is still vital information included in there that should be useful for all gardeners and growers no matter what scale. The book does slant towards flower/bedding production rather than vegetable production but that is a minor issue as many of the basic greenhouse-management principles are the same. This is definetly one of the best books I have read on greenhouse operation and management.
