2000-11-27 Great stuff - first hand research!
I own all the books on SVC, and am a great admirer of her work. I've read too many gushing accounts of her life in magazine articles etc, so it is a breath of fresh air to see a well researched text such as this one. Although it doesn't have the large format photographs of Youd's book, it does have wonderful, original research.I have known Andrew for years during my research into interwar ceramics at the University of Wales, and I know him to be a professional and dedicated author. I only wish that I had the chance to meet and interview Cooper for my 1998 book Art Deco Ceramics. Casey, on the other hand, travelled to the Isle of Man to carry out in-person interviews with the great lady before she died.
