2008-06-07 The Pass Master
Bought this book for my father who has been a lifelong Fulham supporter. I remember being taken to watch my first Fulham game back in 1960, standing on a stool at the Hammersmith End so that, as a seven year old, I could see over the shoulders of those spectators in front of me. I too became hooked by this friendly family club. At that tender age I never quite aware of the player wearing the number 10 shirt but as time passed and I saw more and more games at the Cottage I began to realise that Johnny Haynes was something very special when it came to the art of the long pass. He had the gift of being able to send a ball from one side of the field directly into the path of an attacking player on the other side. The fact that often that attacker might be Tosh Chamberlain - well enough said - the ball would either then burst the back of the net or completely clear the ground. The look on Haynes' face at that point was always something that will live with me forever. Buy this book and read for yourself the magic that was Johnny Haynes the greatest footballer to have ever worn the Number 10 shirt for Fulham.similar books
