2004-01-31 The Fake Diaries of Jim Morrison
Anyone who has a genuine interest in Jim Morrison and his life should be warned now - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK!!Out of all the dodgy literature circulating about Jim , this book is up there with the worst of them. Even if Marshal Lawrence Pierce truly believes that the diary is genuine, perhaps he might have spent at least 10 minutes researching some general facts that are validated by the writings of those that knew him personally, e.g. Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, Patricia Kennealy-Morrison. Failing that, read some of Jim's poetry. Whoever took the time to write this drivel obviously had no understanding, or even knowledge of Jim's work or life whatsoever. The snippets of poetry throughout the diary bare no resemblance to any of Jim's previously published works. It should be classified as comedy since I spent the majority of my time laughing out loudly (though not joyously.)
As conspiracy theories go, this should be catalogued as one of the most pathetic of all time. I would suggest that it is not worth reading even if it were the only book left on the planet.
However, if the man himself would like to prove me wrong, I would be more than elated to entertain the notion that he is still roaming the globe. And Jim, you are cordially invited to spend the week with me in Bath.
