2007-07-13 A brilliantly illustrated and great story

The artwork of this graphic novel is probably its greatest selling point but it also has a great story line, an expedition to a volcano that has become active once again is intercepted and killed, a group of predators unlike those encountered previously by either Batman or Superman, infact an off shot of an earlier predator civilisation, is trying to interfer with the earth's climate and Batman and Superman investigate.

The characterisation of Batman and Superman is excellent, Batman reminding me more of perhaps Frank Castle/The Punisher, particularly in his attitudes towards the Predators and The Aliens whom the Predators have bred as a trial of strength to test their adolescents, while Superman's characterisation is interesting, the Kryptonian's invulnerability to the worst either of the alien species can do gives him a different perspective like a conservationist.

The only strange element to the story line is the featuring of an over arching and seemingly all powerful and sinister international agency which must be a feature of the Dark Horse Predator or Alien universe rather than Batman or Superman universe.
