2002-05-28 Funny and interesting read

When I read the back of this book it seemed that it could be a funny read. After finishing, I have to say that I enjoyed this book very much. It was hilarious. The way Winkler explains how Aloysius (the village lunatic) thinks is not only funny, but very interesting. An outlook on life that only a mad man could understand. Winkler is great at really making you feel as though you are in Jamaica, watching these characters with your own eyes. The dialect is dead on. The only reason I did not give this book 5 stars is that it is very sexual. If you are sensitive to that issue then this is not the book for you.
