2006-04-17 Absolutely essential reference for students and practitioners

I bought a copy of this book before my course began, as I had the feeling it would be a core text.I can honestly say it's been one of the most useful (and well-used!) books I invested in.I don't know of any other comparable (UK) books which provide such a good general grounding on the subject of legal issues which specifically relate to occupational therapists.However, I'll stand corrected if there are!The chapters in this book cover a wealth of areas of practice, and also consider all stages of the lifecycle.There are seperate chapters for children and older adults, for example.Also, chapters covering specific areas of practice include mental health, learning disabilities and physical disabilities.The book covers all major Acts of Parliament, White papers and so on which directly affect OT practice, and considers practice within both Health (NHS) and Social Services.The book provides helpful examples of the application of law to OT practice through case studies and legal case examples.I'll definitely be referring to this when I become qualified.An excellent and highly recommended introduction to legal aspects of OT practice!
