2005-09-28 A Great Read
My daughter absolutely loves Annie Dalton's Agent Angel series, so on a recent shopping trip we picked up a copy of The Rule of Magic. My daughter loved it so much I decided to read it too. I'd read a few of the books in the Angels series, which are aimed at a younger audience, but had never read any of Annie Dalton's teen fiction. It's a great read, and extremely filmic. My daughter loved the fact that she didn't feel like the language pandered to her age group, and being a fairly young mum I agreed. It wasn't self conscious like a lot of teen books and I loved the way the two main characters start off like stereotypical teenage characters, but as they disregard their cynical and 'no it all' facades become real and sympathetic. If only my daughter would let her guard down more like Dino (but maybe that only happens when a possible apocalypse is on the cards!). I really recommend this much over looked book.similar books
