2008-06-10 Noble warriors part deux
Jango, follow up to Seeker, is one of those weird books that manages to entertain, yet do your head in at the same time. Why? Well, for a start I don't see the point in this book being called Jango. You'll know why if you ever read it. I feel a title closer to the main plot would suit this much better. While Im moaning, I'll also say it is a little overwritten - would have been a much more thrilling adventure if it was edited down by about 50-100 pages! Nicholson is a good writer, so I don't see how he hasn't noticed this. And what are his editors getting paid for?Moaning aside, if you liked Seeker then I'm sure you'll get to the end of this. Seeker, the Wildman, Morning Star, and Echo Kittle are all pretty cool characters and it's good to read about them. The storyline is pretty good, but sometimes concentrates on boring scenes for far too long. I think my favourite character is still Soren Similin; he never fails to entertain me.
Overall: a good book but the prose and plot aren't as tight as they should be from this guy. I love the new covers by the way, much better than the old jackets.
