2008-10-17 A book with the aim of having fun in the kitchen
to encourage the very young chef! From the introduction:-
'This is my first book for children. I have chosen recipes that are fun, look and taste fabulous, yet are easy enough for cooks as young as three years old to make.
Children love to cook and relish kneading and rolling out dough or cracking eggs. Also, they learn skills like counting, measuring, weighing and understanding time - all without noticing it.
In this book there are lots of healthy recipes for dips, main meals and smoothies, as well as yummy puddings.
Children will eagerly tuck into something they have prepared themselves, and take great pride in watching someone else enjoy their food.
Also, getting children involved in the kitchen is a great way to motivate fussy eaters.
Take time to cook with your child and, above all, have fun in the kitchen!'
Durable board covers open to 48 high quality shiny pages, packed full of appealing and colourful illustrations.
This useful book starts with a contents section, which lists the various recipes - after an introduction from the author, with sections entitled:-
Things you will need
Things you will do
How to knead
What things mean
and ends with an alphabetical list of the recipes
Recipes vary from easy to more complex.
Although there is no actual indication of level of challenge, it is easy for an adult to assess based on their own child's age and ability, in my opinion.
Each recipe is well laid out with an opening note, a `what you will need list' along with the clear, numbered method.
Most of the recipes are over a 2-page spread.
Recipes include:-
My favourite pancakes
Slurpy spaghetti
Pizza dough
Mice in jackets
Sweet and sour chicken
Easy peasy cupcakes
Animal cookies
Chocolate fridge cake
Raspberry ripple cheesecake
Traffic light lollies
Summertime smoothie
