2008-02-25 Fonzie???
We bought this book for an insight on naming a baby. Mr Jones' story is well-written and interesting to read, with good points. My biggest problem is that it seems he had to go to the US to get the book printed, as he is Welsh, yet the book is full of American-isms. At the end, there is a list of names, apparently all selected by the author. This is where I have the biggest problem. The whole point of the book is to stop and think and give your child a sensible name and let their personality show their uniqueness. How, then, can he be seriously suggesting such names as Bland, Fonzie, De Arse, and Cerberus???? Surely these are not even actual names- what on earth was the research based on? the only time I've seen Cerberus as a name other than the hound that guards the gates to Hades, was the pet dog in my Latin book, of Caecilius and his family, and yes, Caecilius is also in there. You have to admit though, Fonzie's tempting.last viewed books
