As usual Mary Higgins Clark provides a well thought out mystery (though the killer's identity is glaringly obvious) but this book is scuppered by extremely unsympathetic characters. Heroine Neeve knows a lot about clothes and.......that's it. Oh yes, she's a Daddy's Girl, and her father is also obsessed with her. Unfortunately this book is so shallow the author refuses to do anything interesting with that particular strand.There are paragraphs and paragraphs packed with descriptions of what the characters are wearing ....it adds nothing to their personalities and makes them little more than shop window dummies. Mary Higgins Clark can and has written better books than this one.
