2006-03-20 Killing Me With Suspense!

What attracted me to this novel was the title. I thought it perhaps had something to do with Britney Spears and someone's desire to kill her - a social satire or something clever like that.

It wasn't.

It was about Britney Johnson, a geek who just got pretty and popular who has suffered from a few recent tragic losses and finding the person responsible.

This book isn't like all the other teen novels. It is more unpredictable and despite such a huge amount of people who die it feels more realistic. The characters are all a bit 2D but this didn't spoil my enjoyment of the novel.

This book keeps you guessing, you think you know who it is and then that person ends up bumped off. There are lots of twists and turns and you genuinely don't know who did it until the end - or at least why they did it. The ending is actually a little confusing and doesn't make as much sense as I hoped it would and does detract from the novel somewhat. Nevertheless it is a good read.
