Thinking Of You - The Ultimate Escapist ReadJill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

2002-11-24 Jayne Ann Krentz style without the depth.
Jayne Ann Krentz has been an "automatic" buy for many years for me - her novels are original, quirky and have in the past had just the right blend of romance and suspense to make a great read. However, as of late - Eclipse Bay series in particular - I have been disappointed in both the depth of the mystery and the characters/romance.
I did enjoy Smoke in Mirrors - the story ambled along quite well at a sedate pace, but I never felt "gripped" by the storyline to the extent that I could'nt put it down. For me the main characters Thomas and Leonora were a bit flat, as was the "romance" side of the book and at times the amount of time dedicated to the ensemble quirky cast got slightly annoying.
Having said all that, the book was still a great improvement, for me, on her most recent works and is worth reading for that.
