Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

2008-07-21 A good book with a few flaws...
City of Bones is a good book, I like the characters in it and the storyline is ok. Clary Fray finds that she can see people who are invisible to everyone else and learns that she has a role to play in the world of shadowhunters and learns that her mother wasn't who she thought she was. I like the story and the atmosphere of the book and it's definitely an easy book to get into if you just accept all the similarities with other novels of its genre. To be honest though, it has most definitely taken some aspects from other sci-fi and fantasy books. The love triangle is very similar to the Twilight series and the main baddie is a little too similar to Voldemort to be given any particular credibility.
I really enjoyed this book but was a little let down by the ending, not enough that I won't read the next book though as I'd like to see what happens next to the characters. The love story in the book (which is no way the main aspect of the book, but is still worth mentioning) is really great and I thought, at first, that the couple had the makings of another Edward/Bella (Twilight :) ) but they didn't, I won't say anymore about that as I don't want to spoil anybody.
I do recommend this book as it's easy to read and I found myself not wanting to put it down as the characters are great, but don't expect too much else from this book.
