Thinking Of You - The Ultimate Escapist Read
Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!

Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?

Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

2002-06-29 Almost darkly fantastic!

I've been fascinated by Clive Barker's work for several years now but was concerned that maybe I was more interested in the idea of him rather than his work. This book confirms it. Although very well written and informative about the work that Clive Barker has done its a bit surplus to requirements for anyone who has read any of Clive's work or seen any of his films. Each chapter covers one of either Clive's films or books and contains a large summary of the plot. I was hoping to find out more about the rational of Clive Barker, his thoughts and ideas. Douglas E Winter obviously knows his subject and has a great respect for Barker but a biography, I feel, should go beyond this and be more analytical. By the end of the book I knew nothing more about Clive Barker than when I had started except which books I would not be interested in reading. A shame because this could have been an opportunity to reach the man behind the myth. In the end it merely perpetuates it!
