2008-04-10 Good Basic Starter
Have bought this and the 1001 Faces bookThis one is really good at getting you started - good test and sample sketches to try, gives you the bare bones to develop your own style.
The book also feature several artists styles of caricaturing - pencil, pen, crayon.
It really inspires you just to have a go - and try and try and try again. Don't worry if you first attempts look a bit rubbish - with this book you soon start doing something half decent.
And you don't have to follow their way of drawing either. My style evolved into drawing the face shape first, then fitting the eyes etc in that - which is almost exactly the reverse of what they say.
I was always terrified of drawing faces - now - bish bash bosh you can do something that even some quite sceptical friends conceded was good - and i've only been practising for a month or two.
Of the two - I'd say try this to get you going and then keep on practising and practising - that's the only way you develop and improve.
Good luck
