Poppy Palin's work has the rare ability to invoke a sense of deep enchantment. Her poetic imagery and profound insights convey a fresh and magical view of the world, empowering and life-affirming. Her books coax the intuitive, natural, wildish self to surface and be recognised and integrated. Lisa Tenzin-Dolma, author and illustrator of Natural Mandalas and others In an era blighted by professional mystics, mercenary magicians and dodgy gurus all jostling for air-time, Poppy Palin is the real thing. Her writing is fluent and uncompromising. You know that she is drawing upon deep levels of earthly and unearthly wisdom. If I needed help and guidance I would turn to her. You can trust her - and what she writes - completely. Alan Richardson, author of The Inner Guide to Egypt and others
"Spiritwalking" is a practical guide to working with the 'unseen', including spirits, entities and energies, be they human or otherwise. Drawing together the wild craft of the shamanic practitioner and the wise counsel of the medium or psychic, "Spiritwalking" takes the reader through a practical course in becoming an effective, empathic spiritwalker; one who can look beyond our physical existence in order to bring healing, balance and deeper understanding. It includes examples of 'unexplained' or 'paranormal' events from the author's own life and offers ways that we may understand them whilst giving instructions for how to deal with similar situations. This book is a highly original 'how to' manual that will enable anyone to deal with unwanted psychic intrusions, balance inharmonious energies or welcome in spirits who can work with us for positive ends. The personal examples from the author mean that this book is not a 'dry' read but rather is entertaining as well as instructional. It will give the reader an opportunity to understand how we may work with the unseen in everyday life and will bring a deeper understanding of our 'otherworldly' counterparts who share our space, be that indoors or in the landscape of city or countryside. It is an accessible course which is suitable for anyone with an interest in finding more meaning in life; a reader need have no beliefs for here is a pure, fresh approach to spirit-full living which only requires an open mind and a sense of adventure.

2008-08-09 A Complete Guide to the Unseen!
It took me a little while to get through this book as it's fairly long, but it was most certainly a worthwhile read. It's written in a nice narrative style that breezes along vividly.Without going into too much detail, 'Spirit Walking' covers topics on the Fae, Angels (the non fluffy variety), Guardian spirits and spirit guides as well as (my personal favourite) how to build ones own 'astral office' as Ms Palin termed it. She mentioned this technique in one of her other books and I was overjoyed she went into more detail here as to how to do it!
I have to say kudos to Poppy Palin because her books are the only ones I've ever read that cover the Otherworld in such a down to earth and practical manner. I do hope she decides to write another as many of the topics discussed within 'Spirit Walking' are vastly comprehensive. The book is littered with lovely personal anecdotes from the author (the inclusion of which, I've always felt, defines a 'good book' without them from a 'great book' with them) -- such stories from the field also give the novice some depth to what is being discussed.
As usual Poppy Palin reassures her readers that working with the unseen should not be frightening but enlightening and beneficial, albeit her wonderful chapters on psychic protection are invaluable to any person wishing to travel into the Otherworld.
The penultimate chapter was interesting, and I admired Palins stance on abstaining from newspapers and television. However, I could not give up TV myself (good television that is! Nothing wrong with a bit of Lost or Veronica Mars) I agreed with her thoroughly that thoughts have power beyond what we believe they do, thus it's important to not watch (for example) horror films given their context. There's plenty of horror in the world already and torturing ourselves by watching such drivel seems superfluous for a cheap thrill... if giving one a mini heart attack isn't bad enough, the emotion and thoughts formed during these films contributes to the pollution of negative residue on the astral planes closest to our own. That's no good is it! Healthy mind, heathly body springs to mind. The mind part being absolutely essential.
I really liked her explanation of the various planes within the Otherworld, although I'm not sure I would describe it as so cut and dry... energy is mutable as are the unseen levels.
Overall, a fantastic book! I only knocked off a star because there were unfortunately many typos, and I wish certain sections could have been longer.
