1999-01-16 Engaging book on Plagues throughout history

A book that readers of various levels find engaging, it speaks of various plagues from the Black Death to AIDS. Despite a bias against the medical profession, Nikiforuk's writing is wonderfully lyric. It draws a reader forth with his telling simile's such that students who might otherwise to profess a distaste for reading or history are drawn to read and engaged in history. He speaks of the broad brush of historical patterns across plagues which makes the book all that more appealing for the student of history.
