2008-01-08 good information, less than good form

This book is an excellent overview of uniforms from a historical and sociological perspective. It is in serious need of a (grammer/spelling) edit. Misspellings like 'lyotard' and a reference to Oscar Wilde's trial in the 1980s are mistakes beneath the scholarship of the book. Furthermore the book could have been better illustrated. Discussions on the uniforms of Hussars, the boy scouts and early cricket uniforms could have been bolstered by photos/illustrations. The photos/illustrations that are included, especially the arresting cover were indeed a treat. All the criticisms could easily be corrected in a further edition and do not ultimately take away from the text.
