2004-12-19 At Last, a Coach Who Really Understands Goalkeeping

Judging by the quality of what David Coles has produced, this could easily have been written by one of the afore-mentioned. This guy really knows his stuff and without the benfit of being a household name, I would imagine he has grafted for many years to achieve what he has. As a former non-league goalkeeper, and now a goalkeeping coach myself, I am constantly baffled by how little most football coaches, and even managers know about goalkeeping. One of the injustices of the modern coaching structure is that goalkeeping coaches have to achieve the equivilant level for coaching outfield players before their goalkeeping coaching licences are recognised, yet coaches of outfield players only need a very basic knowledge of goalkeeping to achieve their coaching certificates. This makes David's achievments even more remarkable.

The DVD which David has produced to accompany this book is also excellent. If you are involved in coaching at any level, this is a very valuable tool.
