Photomacrography is the technique of taking pictures at magnifications higher than 1x (i.e., beyond the range of macro photography). This book was published over a decade ago, and it shows. It contains technical information on equipment available up to 1993 (and now obtainable only in the second-hand market). It also provides ideas on equipment that can be built or modified for special purposes, and on illumination techniques. However, it is not a guide for learning photomacrography, and definitely is not usable as a first book on this subject. Naturally, it makes no mention of digital photography.
If you already mastered the basic technique of macro photography and photomacrography in a studio environment, this book can provide you with additional, useful information applicable to film and digital large-format and SLR cameras. It contains essentially no useful information for photographers wishing to use/modify simpler types of digital cameras.
