2008-08-26 I read this in one sitting, something I've not done for many years
Ian Clayton is a storyteller. Simple as that. He tells a story in this book about why it is important to have family, friends and Featherstone. This story doesn't grab you with new ideas, but instead draws you in so that you need to hear more about what it means to be a proud Yorkshireman. As a recent immigrant to the Area I never grew up in a family of miners, but I almost feel like I can understand what it was like. That day has gone, the pits are all but completely closed now and people move on, but the thing that remains is the music, Folk music, Rock, Pop, Country; the glue that holds all the stories of life together. That will never leave and while its there... Just let Ian put another record on from your collection and remind you what you came here for.similar books
