2007-08-27 Painless way to broaden vocabulary and learn new words

I bought this book and others in the set to help my daughter prepare for the 11+ exams. Adjacent pages introduce 20 new words, with one side dedicated to using clues/defintions to complete a crossword puzzle and the other has sentences to complete using the same words. This way, each word is used twice; once to get the meaning right and the other to use it in a sentence. Some of the sections are dedicated to particular places like a railway station, items around the station are labelled so childern can learn what is what in areas they may not be familiar with.
The difficulty and complexity of the words increase throughout the series so you can actually start your 6 or 7 year old on the first books.
All in all this is a good series of books, expensive if you are buying the whole set, but if you are buying for your first child you can get your money's worth by getting your child to write in a notebook instead of inside the book so they can be passed down to younger ones in the family.
