Jill Mansell, unlike other writers in the rom-com arena, seems to get better with every book she writes. Thinking of You is her latest offering and proves that it is possible to get better with age!
Ginny Holland, a best selling author if left rattling around in her house on her own after daughter Jem goes to university. Lonely, she advertises her spare room for rent. Instead of a happy roommate, she gets moaning Laurel who is still hung up on her ex-boyfriend. If that wasn’t enough, Ginny finds herself lusting after two men who can only be bad for her. Will Ginny get the man of her dreams, or will he be the one that gets away?
Mansell has a disarming ability to create characters that you already know and that tends to make her books impossible to put down. This book is no different. It is charmingly written, hopelessly funny and will make you forget all of your own troubles as soon as you read the first page.

Fiction that mirrors the experiences of women 45+ "I'm going on a cruise. I've chosen my cabin, the ultimate in luxury, with a king-size bed and a Jacuzzi. It's utterly immoral...but I don't care. Daddy taught me to be very careful with money but he didn't teach me how to live. I'm going to make up for lost time. There's nothing like a coronary to frighten the life into you." Ruth is a talented but overly-modest artist whose secret passion is the stage. The death of her father forces Ruth into a humdrum existence caring for her elderly mother, but a heart attack in her forties causes her re-examine her choices. Change is inevitable as she meets two men - one a scenic designer who opens up the possibility of a career in the theatre, the other a young artistic director who falls in love with her. But has she the courage to say yes to either or both of them? Ruth has reached a turning point...
'The book is a joy. It bubbles with humour on every page.' Marina Oliver
2007-06-13 Tale with a moral
The moral of this story is 'Don't let life pass you by'. Ruth-Ruthy to her mother with whom she is still living at 44 is a most annoying lady! Even if her ironic sarcasm made me laugh, I also found myself so cross with her behaviour at times. The'Turning Point'and opportunity to change was when she suffered a heart attack, at a frighteningly young age. At first this seems to jolt her into taking some action. Throughout the novel though she struggles with the concept of 'getting a life', with fun and tears along the way.similar books
