2003-04-20 Another great read from a superb writer
This book had a totally different "feel" to it than the first Clare Layton but without giving away the climax, it is just as gripping. Ginty is a very sympathetic character and although some of the decisions she makes are the wrong ones, they are totally in keeping with her nature (as so well depicted by the author) that she makes the ones she does. The author pulls no punches nor does she whitewash any character. Like Ginty, you see them warts and all as she uncovers the truth about the past. As she delves further into what happened long ago in Oxford, lives are changed including her own and she makes a journey of discovery in ways she never expected. Clare Layton (Natasha Cooper) is one of my favourite writers. Any subject she chooses to wrap her plot around is not only meticulously researched but believably interwoven with the lives of her characters - a great read and totally recommended.last viewed books
